Bluegill is a small, freshwater fish that is known for its delicate, flaky flesh and mild flavor. Here is a simple recipe for cooking bluegill:
Ingredients:
4 bluegill fillets
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
In a separate shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
Place the breadcrumbs in another shallow dish.
Coat the bluegill fillets in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
Dip the fillets in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
Coat the fillets in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help them stick.
In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
Once the pan is hot, add the breaded bluegill fillets and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
Transfer the fillets to a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
Serve the bluegill with your choice of side dishes and enjoy!
Optional: You can also try seasoning the bluegill with your favorite herbs or spices before breading and cooking, or grilling the fillets instead of baking them
